Preston M. Wolin, MD ’73 AB Public and International Affairs
Dr. Wolin is the director and founder of the Center for Athletic Medicine, Ltd. Founded in 1991, the Center provides multispecialty care to every level of athlete from child through professional. Dr. Wolin earned his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois and completed his residency at Northwestern University Medical Center. He completed two fellowships: one in Sports Medicine at Boston Children's Hospital/Harvard University and another in Arthroscopic and Reconstructive Knee Surgery at Newton-Wesley Hospital/Tufts University. He is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons with specialization in the shoulder, knee, ankle, and elbow. He is also subspecialty certified in Sports Medicine. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Director of the Sportsmedicine Fellowship.
Dr. Wolin has served as a team physician for DePaul University, Loyola University, University of Illinois-Chicago, the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer, United States Soccer National Menes and Women’s Teams, the Chicago Red Stars of Women’s Professional Soccer, and the Windy City Thunderbolts of the Frontier League in professional baseball. He is also the team physician for Robert Morris University, St. Rita High School and St. Ignatius College Prep.
Dr. Wolin is a founding member of the Illinois State High School Sportsmedicine Advisory Committee. He has been Vice President of the Conference USA Medical Committee and a consultant to the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Dr. Wolin also has
considerable expertise in workmens compensation. He is considered an
expert by both workers and employers attorneys. He has spoken before
many workmens compensation groups including insurance adjustors, nurse
case managers, and attorneys. Dr. Wolin is the author of a quarterly
email newsletter that goes to numerous people in the field.
